4 Tips For Great Skin at Any Age

A lot of people assume that over a certain age you might as well give up on great skin. But, the truth is that great skin isn’t necessarily attached to your age. Great skin can be achieved by living a healthy lifestyle and following the right routine. Although you may not be able to stop aging completely, you can look fabulous at any age. Whether you’re a freshman in high school, or retired and living in an assisted living community, take a look at some of the best tips for great skin— regardless of your age.

Clean Your Face Every Day

Don’t even think about skimping on washing your face in the evenings before you go to bed. Washing your face is an important step in removing all of the impurities that you accumulate throughout the day. The best way to clean your face is by using a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type.

Although you should also wash your face in the shower, the most important time to wash is in the evenings before you go to bed. Going to sleep with all of the toxins your skin carries can lead to breakouts, and clogged pores.

Moisturize

A lot of people who experience acne assume that they need to dry out their face to reverse pesky pimples. However, this method can work against you. Drying out your face can lead to your skin producing even more oil to try to compensate for the lack of moisture.  Always moisturize your face after washing it with as light or as heavy of a moisturizer as your skin needs. Make sure that it’s made for the face, and not a hand or body cream. Believe it or not, not all creams are created equally.

Wear Sunscreen

The sun is one of the biggest contributing factors to how much your skin can stand the test of time. Rather than baking in the sun for hours, You should protect yourself. Always wear sunscreen in addition to a hat that covers your face when in the sun for long periods of time. Not only will you age much faster if you don’t protect your skin from the sun, but you also put yourself at risk for skin cancer. Always apply an SPF of 30 or higher every single day.

Don’t Smoke

It goes without saying that you shouldn’t smoke at all. However, if you want to preserve your skin’s youthfulness, you should stop smoking right away. Smoking reduces your skin’s elasticity and increases wrinkles. Smoking can also lead to breakouts and dull and lifeless complexion.  You’re better off finding another habit than inhaling nicotine!
